Playground at Gibson Park is getting a makeover

if you meant to Gibson Park and Great Falls lately you may have noticed some changes now there’s an empty dirt lot surrounded by a fence where the tots playground used to be empty ends Kelly Collins shows us what the city is putting in its place the Gibson Park playground is in the process of getting a much-needed makeover park manager Lonnie Dalkey says the 20-year old structure has reached the end of its lifespan it’s just getting to be a aged structure that we’re wanting to replace an update so it’s more 88 compliant but this is a bittersweet process for people like Lauren Lorant she grew up in this playground and it’s sad to see some of those childhood memories fade we had a lot of family memories down here at this park and things like that so it it’s kind of sad that it’s gone but hopefully the new one that’s coming in it’ll be good for future generations of kids the city was able to get funding for this project by the Community Development Block Grant this will help replace the entire playground not just the kiddie section the new side that we’re doing right now I’ll probably be a couple weeks before that we get that done and then there’ll be a couple more weeks probably before we get this tot side then so we’re probably looking at a good month as for the old equipment it will be carried off to a dump site in Great Falls Kelly Collins and TN news the next project to be completed using the grant will be installing a playground in Krantz Park
