The City of Corpus Christi
officially opened
the Play-for-All Playground
at Salinas Park
with a ribbon cutting
on Saturday, February 4.
The playground is the first
in Corpus Christi designed
to be inclusive of persons
of all abilities.(Stacie Talbert Anaya)
Where is there more happiness and joy than on a playground?
Listen to it, right? And it is a bedrock
of our nation that this type of thing exists. [cheering](Stacie Talbert Anaya)
Well this is the Play-for-All
Playground here at Salinas Parkand it is completely accessible
so that a person with any ability
can come play here. So we have a lot of families
in town who might have a brother or a sister
who is in a wheelchair or uses a walker
or has special abilitiesand they don’t really have
a place that they can play
alongside their brothers
and sisters, so this is
a place that an entire family
can come and play and feel safe.

The $300,000 playground
was funded by the U.S. Dept.
of Housing and Urban Development
and the Community Development
Block Grant in partnership with
the City’s Housing and Community
Development Dept.
Features of the playground
include a zip-line
with a suspended chair
that can be used by persons
in a wheelchair, a Cozy Cove
for autistic children
who need a temporary quiet spot
and a Sway Fun Glider that can
accomodate wheelchairs.(Richard Balli)
This park will be for everybody. Hearing-impaired, sight-
impaired, autistic children and adults.A dream came true.(Omar Becerra)
Reporting for the City
of Corpus Christi,
