Blackness Primary School Playground Redevelopment

Hi, my name is Vanessa Kelly and I am the Communities Officer for the West End ward. The West End Local Community Plan is committed to improving play facilities and creating new opportunities for play in the ward. We worked with the Parent Council to improve the playground at Blackness Primary School not only for the pupils but for the community. The school playground is open after school and at weekends for community use and provides a safe space for children to have fun, exercise and to meet up with friends. The West End Local Community Planning Partnership awarded a grant for the shelter and Dundee Decides 2018 awarded £65,000 for groundwork’s to enable the changes to take place The Parent Council raised the remainder of the cost through a variety of different fundraising activities. As you can see this was a major project and a wonderful transformation of the space. The playground now provides opportunities for physical exercise, puzzles to provide challenge, space to rest and to chill but above all, a space which provides something for everyone and fun for all.
